Siu Lim Tao or Little Idea 小念頭

Siu Lim Tao or "Little Idea" is the 1st of 3 empty hand forms that are the basis for learning Wing Chun Kung Fu. (The second and third are Chum Kiu and Biu Tze respectively).

At first glance, Sil Lim Tao may appear to be simplistic. I mean, let's face it, the stance looks a little funny and the movements are slow and not too complicated. Don't be fooled! Grandmaster was being modest when he called this form "Little Idea".

As you look more closely and come to understand how the Wing Chun system works, you will appreciate more and more how everything is based on the bedrock foundation first introduced in Sil Lim Tao.

As an aside note, let me suggest that while one on one instruction is crucial to learning Wing Chun, it also helps to have videos to you can refer to. I've included several YouTube videos below as well as a set of downloadable videos available for purchase.

I've found that bad habits are hard to break in martial arts. That's why it helps to have your own private Sensei showing proper Wing Chun movements that you can refer back to over time.

There is a link to the courses below, which you can purchase for about the same cost as a single private lesson. Personally I just liked that they were immediately available to me and now whenever I want to brush up on some of the finer points I don't have to wait for my next class--it's available right on my computer!
